Rainy Day Productions will present industry readings of the new play Chasing the River by Jean Dobie Giebel. Directed by Illana Stein, the six-member cast will feature Tony Carlin, Aaron Costa Ganis, Annie Golden, Deborah Rayne, Chet Siegel, and Wendy Rich Stetson. The readings will be held on Monday, January 28 at 3:00 p.m. & 7:00 p.m., and Tuesday, January 29 at 4:00 p.m. For more information, please email victoria@PSTheatricals.com.

After serving a 10-year prison sentence, Kat returns to the scene of events that changed the course of her life. As she searches for a way to make peace with her past, new revelations and unexpected reunions clash with her long-held memories of childhood. Chasing the River is about survival, second chances, and making a bet on the healing power of love.

The creative team includes Arthur Solari (Composer & Sound Design), Robert Wesley(Movement Choreographer), Kate Farrington (Production Dramaturg). Perry Street Theatricals is the Executive Producer and General Manager. Casting by Stephanie Klapper Casting. The Stage Manager is Shane Schnetzler. The Assistant Stage Manager is Marjorie Ann Wood.

BIOS

Jean Dobie Giebel (Playwright) has directed Off and Off-Off Broadway productions including works at The Mint Theater, Pulse Ensemble Theater, The New 42nd Street Theater, Riverside Shakespeare Company, ATA Chernuchin Theater, The Hudson Guild and the 45th Street Theater. As a director and dramaturg, she has developed new works for the Annual Samuel French Original Short Play Festival as well as the Edinburgh International Fringe Festival. She is a professor of Drama at Hofstra University. Chasing the River is her first original full-length play.

llana Stein (Director). Off-Broadway credits: Associate Director: Tamburlaine the Great (dir. Michael Boyd), Pericles (dir. Trevor Nunn) at Theatre for a New Audience. Regional credits: Associate Director: Fingersmith (dir. Bill Rauch) at American Repertory Theatre. Assisting credits: Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Signature Theatre, Yale Rep, Pearl Theatre, Hangar Theatre, Cincinnati Playhouse, and over 20 productions at Cincinnati Shakespeare Company. She won an Overall Award for Excellence in directing for or what she will by Charly Evon Simpson (FringeNYC ‘12). Recipient of a 2018 Drama League First Stage Residency and member of Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab ‘12. Annie Golden (Addie) considers herself the illegitimate child of the legitimate theatre having been discovered on the Bowery fronting a rock band at CBGB's by Milos Forman, Academy Award winning director, and cast as Jeannie in Hair, his 1978 film. Some Broadway credits include: Violet, Xanadu, Ah! Wilderness, created the role of George Bukatinsky in the Tony nominated Best Musical The Full Monty. Also, was Sondheim's original Squeaky Fromme in Assassins. Numerous Film and TV credits: Hair, I Love You Philip Morris (opposite Jim Carrey), Baby Boom, Twelve Monkeys, “Law and Order,” “Law and Order SVU,” “Cheers,” “Miami Vice,” “Difficult People” on HULU, and five seasons as Norma Romano on NETFLIX hit series “Orange Is The New Black!”

Deborah Rayne (Kat) is a proud graduate of Hofstra University. She is a working actor in NYC, appearing on stage, in films, on TV, in commercials, and voiceovers. Some of her favorite stage credits include: The Good Daughter, Lobby Hero, Crimes of the Heart, Buried Child, I Hate Hamlet, Noises Off, Steel Magnolias, and The Last Night of Ballyhoo. TV credits include: "Chicago PD," "Blindspot," "Nurse Jackie," "The Family," "The Affair," "Seven Seconds," “Unforgettable," and "Rosewood." Chet Siegel (Beth) is an actress and comedian. Credits include: TV – “Search Party,” “Chicago Med,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live”; Film - Uncle Peckerhead, Nevada (2018 Sundance Official Selection); Theatre - Mint Theater, Ensemble Studio Theater, The Rattlestick; Radio - BBC Radio, Studio 360, The Truth Podcast; Web - UCB Comedy, Above Average, guyism.com, IFC’s Comedy Crib. She teaches and directs improv and sketch comedy at Magnet Theater. She performs monthly with UCB house sketch team, Attention Shoppers, and every Friday night at 10:30pm with UCB veteran improv team, The Law Firm.

Wendy Rich Stetson (Maggie). Broadway credits include: In the Next Room (or the Vibrator Play), Act One, and A Free Man of Color, all at Lincoln Center Theater. Off-Broadway she performed in Days to Come (The Mint Theater); Big Bill (Lincoln Center Theater); and Cymbeline, Hamlet and Tartuffe (Public Theater/NYSF. Regionally, Ms. Stetson has been seen at The Huntington Theatre Company, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, Yale Rep, The Dallas Theater Center, Geva, Two River Theater Company, Portland Stage Company, The Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival and The Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble. Film and television credits include “The Sinner,” “The Path,” and “The Big C,” and the upcoming feature The Sounding.

Arthur Solari (Composer & Sound Designer). Recent Work: Angel Reapers, Signature Theater (Lotrel Award “Most Unique Theatrical Experience & Hewes Design Award, Sound Design); Tamburlaine the Great, Polonsky Theater (Drama Desk Award “Outstanding Music in a Play”); The Tempest, Public Theater/Shakespeare in the Park; Chéri, Signature Theater; The Piano Upstairs, Spoleto Festival, Italy; Dorian C., Cannes Film Festival; Garden of Earthly Delights, Minetta Lane Theater. Additionally, Mr. Solari has been praised by the NY Times and the Wall St. Journal for an “evocative score” and as an “virtuosic performer” respectively.

Kate Farrington (Production Dramaturg) is a freelance dramaturg, editor, and writer based in New York City. She served as the resident dramaturg of The Pearl Theatre Company for over a decade where she worked on more than 50 productions (including And Away We Go by Terrence McNally, Stupid F@*#ing Bird by Aaron Posner, and Vanity Fair by Kate Hamill). Kate has also worked with such companies as MCC, New York Theatre Workshop, The Public, St. Louis Actors Studio, and Amphibian Stages as well as collaborating on numerous independent projects. She is currently an Adjunct Professor at Marymount Manhattan College and Queens College CUNY.

Robert Westley (Movement Choreographer) has choreographed movement for award winning theatre productions, acclaimed operas and film, developing unique and exciting performances of dance, clowning, aerial acrobatics, puppetry and martial art. Broadway: Bernhardt/Hamlet, Gettin’ The Band Back Together, A Bronx Tale: The Musical, Hand to God.
