In 2015 at La MaMa, there was a rather interesting and fun play about the fascinating and scandalous life of Adah Isaacs Menken, titled Horseplay: or, The Fickle Mistress, a Protean Picaresque. Of course, Mazeppa featured prominently. I thought at the time that with a bit of work, the play might go on to a run beyond La MaMa. |
