So they just announced that at least the first act is completely pre-recorded, even the scenes that don’t feature Roger. That would explain the low-ish energy level. The lighting also seems off, although that may be a function of the decision to have an open, in-the-round set with moving cameras.
Although it would be technically complicated, couldn’t they at least have the non-Roger scenes live? This seems like a bad decision. And it didn’t look like Hunt was actually there during the announcement by the rest of the cast that a portion would be live later, so I think a couple of minutes will be live rather than a large portion.
And I know it’s hard to throw someone in at the last minute, but aren’t there a bunch of actors who know Roger’s part backwards and forwards? And Adam Pascal is much older than everyone else, but he’s already there... and didn’t The Sound of Music have understudies? That seems like an incredibly short-sighted decision for such an expensive project.
I guess I’m watching the SAG Awards now. |
