"Rent" didn't do well financially at the box-office as a film either when it came out. "Chicago" and the current "Bohemian Rhapsody" have more general appeal than to those who use twitter apparently.

Considering all the money spent on this, it would have been a better investment to have hired understudies for the roles, so it could have gone on live as advertised. Some folks do hold back in dress rehearsals, although that screaming mob of an audience might have at least spurred some of the more experienced performers to really give 100% even at the dress. But if the producers instructed and encouraged those audience members to scream and yell so much and so annoyingly, they were really doing the performers and audience at home a disservice. They made the lyrics hard to hear and interrupted some of the continuity of the show.
