I’m not defending what I saw last night – it wasn’t good.
But so much of this Monday morning quarterbacking is plain wrong.
The idea that they could have simply slipped in a last minute replacement or simply had Roger in a wheelchair while everyone else did their thing is ridiculous!
They spent months rehearsing that. Weeks blocking it. Weeks working on all the camera angles.
There is literally no way they could have done the show live after the injury.
And sure, maybe some of us regular theatergoers would enjoy seeing a stripped down version with the cast in stationary positions – that wouldn’t work on tv.
They made a decision based on a bad set of circumstances. Sadly, nothing could have saved it.
