I didn't change the channel, but was very bored during the 1st half. The 2nd half was a little better.
I think the show could have continued live with Brennin sitting in various positions on-stage. There were scenes where he didn't move much at all, and the blocking wouldn't have been too different for the other actors. As for the scenes where he was moving a lot, that would be a little trickier, but could have been done live or that was the cut to the taped footage. For the ensemble numbers, those could still be done either minus a person or a standby. There were a lot of people in the cast that it seems ridiculous there weren't covers for the main roles.
I wonder what the actual blocking for the show was. I doubt all of what was broadcast, I watched the West Coast feed, was what was meant to happen. If it was, some of those camera angles were awful as well as the choreography. The camera didn't even get a great angle of Brennin and Adam together at the end, so maybe it was.
With that said, I did enjoy the actress who played Alexi Darling. J. Elaine Marcos was great as well as seeing the original cast at the end. Though, I kind of wished they could have been used as extras during group scenes. |
