| Thanks for all the insight on Honey. I only know it from playing it on the piano, the version in All Sondheim Vol. 3. I didn't realize the sheet music was so truncated. I gotta say, huge lifelong Sondheim devotee, and appreciator of dissonance and all sorts of odd things, this is one of the only Sondheim songs that I just can't get. The melody is so odd, the accompaniment is strange. LOL. I know that isn't a very musical analysis and I actually understand music. I never once imagined it could have made Merrily a better show, unlike some other Sondheim cut songs. Perhaps I'd have to hear the full version with the interjections you reference. |
