is she Mrs. Paroo or a gender-reversed Marcellus Washburn? (Mrs. Paroo seems like such a passive role for her.)
Jessie Mueller seems ideal for Marian: not too young and not too glam. Pretty enough to believe Harold Hill might actually be interested in her but plain enough to believe that she has doubts and insecurities.
Not so sure about Norm Lewis. His acting has never thrilled me and he has always struck me as a genial and charming man with a beautiful voice and a very lovely, sincere personality. None of these qualities strike me as a particularly good fit for Harold Hill. |
