Now retitled "Enter Laughing" after its source material, "So Long, 174th Street" opened on Broadway in 1976, starring Robert Morse. Lee Goodman played "Papa," Loni Ackerman played "Wanda," and George S. Irving played multiple roles, including a "Butler" singing the hilarious "Butler's Song," which Irving has performed many times since. Rita Rudner was in the ensemble and understudied Ackerman. Although it played only 22 performances, it left behind a great original cast recording, and the score is a ton of fun.
