After the disappointing RENT last Sunday, I rewatched the filmed final performance of RENT filmed LIVE on Broadway. WOW!! I haven't seen this in years and it still delivers. i remember rushing RENT after it first opened and seeing the original cast and this comes very close to capturing the magic.
I also saw the Hollywood Bowl's production directed by Neil Patrick Harris who played Mark on tour and it was amazing--especially Nicole Scherzinger who is my absolute favorite Maureen even over Idina. Nicole is an AMAZING performer!!! I'm disappointed that she doesn't do more. I'd love to see her in a TV version of CHICAGO as Velma.
Why dont more Broadway shows videotape their last performance(s) and release it commercially? It's a great way to capture the show and a market it for future productions.
I'm still hoping that HAMILTON releases the video of the final performances of the Original Cast. Do you think that's ever going to happen? |
