I guess I can see how you would say that, but what about the heartbreaking scene where a completely disoriented Gladys repeatedly comes down the hall to Daniel's room and repeatedly wakes him up over the course of one long night? Didn't you feel that worked very well from a dramatic point of view? Anyway, the play is written the way it's written, so I don't see how other productions could have been much different in this respect. I do agree there was something about the scene changes that really didn't work very well, although I'm not sure the montages were the problem -- maybe just that each of them was just a little too long? I don't remember this being an issue in the original production, |
