I know someone already mentioned the show "Pins and Needles" - I would suggest "Four Little Angels of Peace" from that show - it's Mussolini, Hitler, Stalin, and Anthony Eden all singing about how they can destroy countries. "Sing Me a Song with Social Significance" is another great one from that show.
Also, "Suppertime" from "As Thousands Cheer" - a black woman singing about her husband's lynching.
I'm not sure if anyone else has mentioned it, but there's "Brother, Can You Spare a Dime?" from "Americana" - a great song about the Depression.
And...
"War is a Science" from "Pippin"
"How the Money Changes Hands" from "Tenderloin"
"Posterity is Just Around the Corner" and "Who Cares?" from "Of Thee I Sing" |
