To me, the worst person on that recording is Bobby Van, who sounds like he's doing some truly bizarre Vegas act of his own, instead of singing the songs.
As I recall, there's also some little dialogue exchanges in the title song (between Nanette and Tom) that sound pretty cringeworthy. But I think it's also meant to be very tongue-in-cheek melodramatic, which most likely comes off much better seen in context instead of just heard on a recording.
