I wonder if neither Philippa Bevans nor Betty Woolf is heard anywhere on either recording. I suspect not.
If I can trust the article on the Broadway cast recording session that was published in the Times on April 1, 1956, it seems that “You Did It” and “I Could Have Danced All Night” were done back to back. Harrison arrived at 3:45 p.m., and the first thing he did was “You Did It.” They did not get a take that satisfied them till 5. Then Andrews did “I Could Have Danced All Night,” and that took an hour. After which it was pointed out by a “schedule checker” that they were two songs behind schedule. This all suggests to me that we don’t hear Bevans anywhere on the recording.
