The National run was always announced as a pre-Broadway engagement, and it's not something the National developed in-house.
(And no, giving American commercial producers a price break on a pre-Broadway tryout run is not an appropriate use of the National's taxpayer-subsidised resources, particularly on a production which parachutes in the five leads from across the Atlantic and relegates UK performers to the ensemble.) |
