I think there's very little that Sunset has in common as a score with Sweeney or ITW, and while all three do have a "traditional broadway" sound to some extent, they are from 3 different broadway traditions I think. And at the same time, all three in their ways have very little in common with actual classically traditional broadway score sounds (like R&H scores, or the musical comedies of the 50s and 60s).

And I doubt very much that the Sunset film would cut 1/3 of the score like the Sweeney film did...

But I especially don't see why Sunset wouldn't be an event as a TV movie. It doesn't have to be live for it to be an event. The title Sunset Boulevard is very famous and way more people know the name from the movie but haven't seen the musical and may be curious to - and also very famous is the name Andrew Lloyd Webber, as is Glenn Close. You round out the cast with someone like Zac Efron or Joe Jonas as Joe, and one of any number of female love-interest types who can sing for Betty (or let someone like Annaleigh Ashford do it), and bring back George Hearn as Max (why not, if Glenn can still do Norma), and you have an event for sure.
