Planet Connections Theatre Festivity explores another universe … of plays.

The leading summer theatre festival looks to producing full-length works this season.

After a decade of presenting superior short works as New York’s only socially-conscious arts festival, PCTF will now step into the arena of full-length off-Broadway works. The Festivity, designed to invoke the power of art in motivating philanthropy, community outreach and social change, will be spending the 2019 season exploring full-length runs of plays that touch upon the same socially-conscious ideals that have made PCTF the most respected arena for new works.

The recent triumphant run of Till We Meet Again at the Theatre at the 14th Street Y, which - through magical realism - explored the healing power of family as a WWII veteran finds enlightenment in his granddaughter; is now being followed by Alex Riad’s exploration of Millennials and their social mores and culture, The Floor is Lava. These are just two examples of the focus PCTF is giving to quality full-length works. Currently in negotiation is one of the later works of Jose Rivera, which will have its New York premiere under this new arm of PCTF; as well as possibly a play by Erik Ehn.

“We’re excited about this new journey,” says Glory Kadigan, founder of Planet Connections; “we look forward to combining both disciples into an even greater hub of quality, empowering art,” she continued. Whether it be through Playwrights for a Cause or its current production unit, Planet Connections’ artists use their work to shed light on the causes that matter, while inspiring audiences to get involved. “We're now looking at works that began their lives as part of Playwrights for a Cause and see how far we can take them," Ms. Kadigan, a respected director, producer, and playwright in her own right, concluded.
