Despite Lorna's protestations about how nice the "Hollywood Forever" physical grave is, many of us feel it was wrong to have Judy's grave moved from NY to LA. Judy was on record (verified in several biographies) telling best friend Kay Thompson, Liza, and others that she did NOT want to be buried in L.A. (bnot her favorite place: she loved NYC, London, Boston, all much more). The quiet dignity of the original burial site in 1969 was exactly what she wanted-not a tourist attraction like "Hollywood Forever"-site, which encourages tourists tromping around the attractions...er, holy resting places.
I think it's sad they (belatedly) went against her wishes. In her new book on "Star is Born", Lorna plays it off (the original burial) as something last husband Mickey Deans did that Judy wouldn't have wanted, but that's not the case. The beautiful, quiet spot near West Point and the Hudson river (quite near the site of the "Dolly" movie filming) was perfect....and, at least, was her preferred resting place for almost 50 years!
