I saw a production 7 years ago at a small non-equity theater in the Chicago area. It's a solid, well-made play that I found quite engrossing even though I've seen the film many times. There is some very frank talk about homosexuality in one scene (rather shocking for a 1954 play) that is not present in the movie.
I doubt if we'll ever see a major revival, but it's a shame that it isn't done more often in regional theatre. |
