Exactly. In recent years, the point has been brought home that plastics are an infinitely larger and more severe problem than paper, because paper is biodegradable and plastics are not. Anyway, I find the "going green" argument against having printed programs at theaters very disingenuous -- meaning, I don't think that's the real reason for it. And to whatever degree "going green" is part of the reason, that can be addressed by various methods -- for example, asking people if they want a program as they enter the theater, and also providing a dropbox on the way out for people who don't feel it necessary to keep their programs after the show is over. |
