This is a fiasco. Why make a musical out of Alice in Wonderland if you have nothing to contribute to Alice IN Wonderland? The songs are a blur, the lyrics are embarrassing, the direction simply illustrates the central word in the corresponding scene. The characters are basically an extension of Spring's Awakening: young kids, the boy and girl are in love and they are surrounded by types.
Just as with This Ain't No Disco, I have to ask HOW DID THIS HAPPEN? It is depressing to think about all the money and development, all the workshops, all the CASH that went into this pointless work.
Especially sad that this is the premiere of MCC's new space. |
