| Saw this Saturday night, primed not to like it due to sour review in The Times. The audience was very eager to enjoyit. All around me, before the show started, people were bursting into their own renditions of the beloved big hit tunes. Ms. Cusak was lively, having a beautiful, svelt figure, which carried the period glamor costumes very well. The last costume reminded me of those "Modess Because"ads that used to run in The Saturday Evening Post. You don't have to have Ethel Merman clarion power to carry this show. I did think that Angela Lansbury, back in her Mame days, would have been perfect.Anyway, Ms. Cusak did a fine job, singing with verve and spirit. The audience was rightfully appreciative. |
