I think it’s fine if the song truly shows off your singing and acting skills. And if that is true, it doesn’t matter how overdone it is.
Technically true. But many directors may think of material from "the new big hyped shows" as a lazy choice. I always think it's better to wait for a while until not so many people are doing it. A compromise is to have the desired Hamilton songs in your audition book and to use them as a 2nd choice if asked - but not to lead with them.
But ultimately it's totally your choice, and if you feel the songs really show you off (instead of you showing off the songs, if you get the distinction), go for it. |
