Nonetheless, as I explained & sourced in my "Specifics" post below, those who actually worked on Follies and created "Lucy & Jessie" make it clear the number had nothing whatsoever to do with minstrel shows. White gloves, finger wagging and/or pointing, and a dance ensemble with their backs to the audience don't necessarily mean "minstrel show." And suggesting they do - well, that's nothing more than a broad generalization.
Of course you could also say that, in your opinion, Swan Lake was created in 1875-76 as a metaphor for the upcoming Bolshevik revolution of 1917. And you can say it all you like. However, it has nothing to do with the facts. |
