Well, I think it is hard to pigeonhole as I know folks on both sides of the street on both sides of the issue. (Once again, the most important rule: there are no rules.) I also don't know what you are calling "working theatre professionals." Do you mean folks who started as actors or stage managers? The league is not controlled by what I would call suits and while a lot of producers are lawyers, including quite a few that almost no one knows are lawyers, these are mostly people who are very much working in the theatre and making theatre, not people sitting in an office making executive decisions.
