There have been at least 2 productions of They're Playing Our Song in the Chicago area in the last 10 years. I saw one of them in 2011 and Porchlight Theatre did the other one in 2018. It's an enjoyable show when well cast, but slight. I believe it's considered a very minor work by Simon and Hamlisch, which is probably why regional theaters don't do it as often as they once did back in the 80's. I suspect The Last 5 Years has taken its place in the repertory (at least in Chicago) when theaters are looking to do a small musical.
