| For five weeks from 6th April, she is doing the play “A German Life” by Christopher Hampton and directed by Jonathan Kent, so class all the way in this production. It’s at the Bridge Theater which is a wonderful space, this will be hottest ticket in London for a few I weeks I would bet! | |

| I mean, London is always a good idea, but wow. We're not gonna have this dame in our midst a whole lot longer, folks. I watched LETTICE & LOVAGE on the Theater on Film and Tape Archive; that's the closest I've ever been to seeing her act on stage. I was already considering and April European trip and this would be thrilling. Wow. Might have to do this! - GMB |

| Considering Hytner had had several Bridge productions shown via NTLive, this may be a good prospect for that. It's unlikely to transfer, and Dame Maggie has star power to sell tickets, so an NTLive screening would make a lot of sense. | |

| Why would you match her with Gielgud? I think I know what your trying to convey, but wouldn't Dench, or Edith Evans, or any of the other great "ladies" of the British Theater make more sense? |

| I'd been hoping that she might do the Alan Bennett, but having seen it I understand why she wouldn't have been interested: it was an ensemble piece without any one really good part for her. I didn't think she would come back to the stage after so long away. I missed THE LADY FROM DUBUQUE after having loved her in LETTICE AND LOVAGE on Broadway and then THREE TALL WOMEN, THE BREATH OF LIFE and THE LADY IN THE VAN in the West End. (Her performance in THREE TALL WOMEN is probably the greatest acting I have seen anywhere, ever.) Now to figure out if I can afford it..... |
