I remember him in his cabaret act holding up a mock CD of the Grand Hotel OCR and singing "Grand Hotel, Grand Hotel, music constantly playing" then speaking, "But not in your house." :-) He then went on and beautifully sang "Love Can't Happen." Which I think turned up as a bonus track when the CD was released.
And I must mention he was one of the three spectacular Broadway leads in Chess (the other two being Judy Kuhn and Phillip Casnoff). The show may not have been that great, but that score sung by those three---pretty wonderful.
