The sound for the first 15 minutes was so bad I thought I was a concert in a stadium and not a concert hall. Things definitely improved, but I totally missed the lovely first song that Lara sang that introduced the whole thing.
I loved that I didn't know the show at all coming in and could just follow along with the fun.
All the leads were great, but it was frustrating to not have Norm Lewis off book for any more than the sword fight. Even for the final huge verse of each of his songs, he was nose in the book. He still somehow seemed to get every one of those notes, though.
I hadn't been back to one of these special events since Titanic in 2014, but am so glad I made it a point to go back this year. |
