Associates/Assistants on Broadway
Posted by: ablankpage 06:42 pm EST 02/20/19

Just wondering if anyone has any insight into the pay structure of Associate Director/Choreographer/Designer roles on Broadway. I know the lead creatives split a percentage of the royalty pool, which then I think increases marginally to include a percentage of profits if a show recoups. Are the associates just paid a flat salary? And what is the difference between an associate and an assistant? And then Resident Director comes into play sometimes too.

With the talk lately of actor participation/compensation in labs, I’ve been thinking how the creative support staff (who, in many cases of in-demand directors or choreographers, might end up doing the heavy lifting) are paid for their contributions.
