I think you may have misunderstood and certainly misrepresented my point. To wit: No slight of either the community or college production just not at Off-Bway rates....yikes!

I'm sure that you meant no harm in your comment. However, it could have been worded in a different manner. Having been involved in community and high school theatre for a total of about 45 years, I've seen and been involved with some great, some fair , and some not so fair productions. Was deeply involved for many years with a local high school that competed in the Massachusetts High School Drama Festival. We advanced a few times to the finals held in Boston. You would be amazed at the quality of the performances you see at that level. If you have these competitions in your area, check them out. The on stage professionalism that I have seen demonstrated by many of these high school students over the years is something to behold.

You wrote: "I felt I was watching something between a college production and community theater most of the night. Fiasco indeed! For the morbidly curious only."

I don't think I misunderstood or misrepresented what you very very clearly meant by that statement, and your trying to spin things differently only adds insult to injury. But we can just leave it at that - no need to drag this out further. Yikes indeed. Goodnight.

I didn't think the original comment was a slight at all.

There are certain levels of acting I expect to see depending on who is giving the performance. When I see a college production, I expect to see college students applying what they have learned in the rehearsal (and class) process, still figuring out their character explorations, etc. When I see a community theater production, I expect to see people having a great time on-stage and being mostly entertainers taking the audience on an enjoyable ride. My expectations for regional theater, off-Broadway and Broadway are considerably higher.

I'm sorry you feel the way you do, but there are many ways to read the comment. Yours being one of many.

THANK YOU, shyllei. I could not (and obviously did not) say it better myself!

You might want to relax. The intention of the OP is perfectly clear and wasn't meant as a slight against every college student everywhere, but, rather, as a comment on a production that cannot hold its own professionally. Yikes times three!
