I would say that's a very good counter-argument, depending partly on how much rehearsal time they get. And, of course, that amount of time shouldn't be anything that would be considered insufficient in a professional context.

No actor no matter how fine, no matter how prepared is likely to give a fully realized performance upon their first appearances before an audience. There is a difference between rehearsal and performance that cannot be denied, no matter how much or detailed a rehearsal period one receives. That is why there is usually a brief period before replacements are reviewed. It may seem unfair to those in the audience who have paid full price for their ticket but the marketplace does not support lowering prices for each new replacement.
