| Excellent casting. All principals well-suited to their demanding roles. Script very faithful to the book, even with the framing device added on [ Humbert talking to a psychiatrist]. The show is like walking a tightrope. The audience has to stop from focusing on what a monster Humbert is, or disgust would be overwhelming. Lead playing Humbert [Robert Sella] deserves a lot of credit for managing to exude vulnerability and pathos, much like Peter Lorre in "M." None of the songs achieves the slendor of "On The Street Where You Live," but still, worth seeing. |
