| But they also said it was a partial list, which is I guess why no Channing. I'm assuming Stanley Donen was too recent to make it? | |

| I know they omit people often who deserved to be in the telecast segment... but often it's because they were deemed to not have made their career in film enough to get a slot even if they were very famous or beloved for tv or stage. But Carol, though primarily famous for her stage work, was an Oscar nominee... I think that guarantees her a slot in the tv segment for next year's Oscars, no? |

| You would think so, but since she's on this year's extended list (see MockingbirdGirl's post) I doubt the issue will be revisited next year. | |

| Dorothy Malone was left off of last year's tribute... and she WON an Oscar. If they didn't make it up to Malone this year, no way will they make it up to Channing. |

| Bette sang the lilting lullaby of ''The Place Where Lost Things Go,'' from ''Mary Poppins Returns,'' accompanied by Marc Shaiman. (And had Shaiman won for this song or his score, he could've completed his EGOT, but Oscar voters went Gaga for ''Shallow.'') Sad that Bette could sing at the Oscars (from a movie that she's not associated with), but not at the Tonys for ''Hello, Dolly!'' |

| Accompanied by Marc Shaiman? I'm not so sure. I mean yes, he was sitting at the piano, and he may have been playing, but all I heard was the orchestra. If they wanted to feature him playing, why didn't they???? | |
