By "the three entities," I meant Rudin, the Lee estate, and the licensing house that licenses the Sergel adaptation. I was assuming that the Lee estate would have ultimate control, and that the Sergel estate wouldn't really come into it, based on whatever agreement was made between Lee and Sergel when this adaptation was written.

I'm curious about the agreement between the Lee estate and Rudin/Sorkin, because it's not in the estate's interest long term, to withdraw the Sergel adaptation forever...unless Lee did not like it for her own reasons. I was making the assumption that the agreement between the estate and Rudin was that rights to produce the Sergel adaptation would be suspended for a specific period of time, depending on the length of the run of the Sorkin adaptation and whether or not it is expected to tour or play major regional engagements. I'm also kind of surprised that the estate agreed to withdraw the Sergel entirely and not just within a certain distance of New York during the Broadway run of the Sorkin and within a reasonable distance of tour stops, if it will be touring. A community theatre production of the Sergel in California, for example, should not impact attendance of the Sorkin on Broadway.
