| Cyrille Aimée sings Sondheim at Birdland |

Caught and very much enjoyed the first night of Cyrille Aimée's new set "A Sondheim Adventure" at Birdland last night.
She's got a sweet jazz voice and the arrangements are fresh and playful (i.e. "Being Alive" to a calypso beat.)
For good luck, she wore a dress that Bernadette Peters gave her when they were both part of a Sondheim tribute a few years back.
The sextet sounded great, too.
She's at Birdland all week, if you're in the mood for some of that jazz. |
