| Do many folks here often use the "Newest Posts" option or scroll past the first page? | |

| From time to time, I find myself wanting to reply to posts, but it takes me several days. Sometimes this is true of posts directly addressed to me. Sometimes I just feel overwhelmed or organizing and writing my thoughts on a particular topic is something that I just can't do immediately. In the interim, I sometimes reply to other threads and feel guilty if I haven't replied to posts addressed to me. I try to eventually catch up, and I try to do it before the thread goes to the second page, but sometimes the thread gets to very near the bottom of the first page or, very occasionally, to the second page before I reply. And then I think, "Oh, that person will probably never see this." I know that I rarely use the "Newest Posts" option, nor do I often go past the first page. Often I don't even go to the bottom of the first page. I bring this up partly because I just responded to several posts in a Company thread currently down near the bottom of the first page. I said nothing there of great importance, but I did reply to a post that addressed me specifically and that I felt bad about not having responded to sooner. But the general topic has been on my mind for some time. I'm very glad that posts now stay here longer. I still wish that they stayed here even longer, and yet I know that I'm not taking advantage of this, and as far as I can tell, few other people are taking much advantage of it (at least not in terms of replying to posts past the first page). Am I wrong about that? Some of this is due to the format of the board even now. I know that's not going to change, and there are things I do like about it, but I do suspect that most of simply don't bother with posts past the first page. Maybe I should just use "Newest Posts" more often and not worry too much if hardly anyone reads threads that have passed beyond the first page. But what's the point of posting a reply if no one reads it? |
