| She will be spot-on, no matter what. The issue here is the direction, the approach, the period-specific design (it dare not overwhelm), the access. The story is brilliant but scene-by-scene rather small, intimate, among only a handful of people. The songs are big, theatrical, and will grind it to a halt unless handled with great trust for the material and Close. But who knows? Maybe Ashford has pitched a take that Close likes. She knows the material better than anyone. |
