| She is an amazing actress so I don't vehemently doubt her ability though I found her over wrought when I saw her in it the first time through. That being said, a musical without a sure fire 'current' star is risky. |

| Since actors usually film by lip-synching to pre-recorded tracks of themselves (unless you've got a Marni Nixon type situation), they can always use audios of Close where her singing would be considered a good take. When I saw her in the original production, she did "As If We Never Said Goodbye" beautifully, some of the other numbers didn't land as well on the ear, though her acting performance was brilliant. I'm not a huge fan of the show, so I don't know what vocals of her exist on that or if other takes are available from the recent revival, where some people said she sounded in better voice. | |

| She was not in good voice when I saw her in the revival - far from it, in my opinion. But not too many people said that. But she was so wonderful in the acting, I was willing to forgive her, and I'm very happy I saw it (didn't see the original). |
