No, Its because if you plan on doing what hey have to do every day that's what your body turns into, And since their livelihood depends on being able to get hired, they go to the gym and take care of themselves in order to work.

You say "no," but then "... they go to the gym and take care of themselves in order to work." So, they're more likely to be hired (that seems obvious). I'm curious about how many can do the the choreography (we've all seen some - they are out there, and sometimes hired) but are not hired because of how they look. I know it's a tough business.

To perhaps add further interest to this discussion: Last year, I saw a high school production of WEST SIDE STORY with a plus-size Anita who danced the choreography fabulously well. Would she have been hired for a professional production? I don't know, but maybe not. SHOULD she have been hired fora professional production? That's a separate but very closely related question.

Yes, that Anita was quite good. Sure, when I first saw her it did take a little while to accustom myself to a much larger woman doing this role. And doing all the dancing. And doing it so well, by which time her size was irrelevant.
The problem was the Tony who couldn't sing.

Thanks, I had a very similar reaction to her performance. She was great.
