| To perhaps add further interest to this discussion: Last year, I saw a high school production of WEST SIDE STORY with a plus-size Anita who danced the choreography fabulously well. Would she have been hired for a professional production? I don't know, but maybe not. SHOULD she have been hired fora professional production? That's a separate but very closely related question. | |

| Yes, that Anita was quite good. Sure, when I first saw her it did take a little while to accustom myself to a much larger woman doing this role. And doing all the dancing. And doing it so well, by which time her size was irrelevant. The problem was the Tony who couldn't sing. |
