Are tickets for Lehman Trilogy really going for $800?
Posted by: Billhaven 11:25 am EST 03/02/19

I was floored when I looked for a seat for the Lehman Trilogy (3 one hour acts). The remaining seats were between $600 (for the last row) and $800. I knew prices were skyrocketing for premium seats to Hello Dolly! and Hamilton but I had no idea prices for a play could be so much.

Caught it in London and got a15 £ first row seat. A very good play indeed. Told theatregoing friends here about it and when tickets would go on sale. Not one bothered to buy when they went on sale. All I can say is go to the box office and you may be fortunate to get a reasonable ticket, even on a performance date.

$800 seems cheap compared to the absurd charge on Stubhub $1,350 per ticket for March 22 Row K orchestra!

Just remembered when Yerma played at the Armory two people I know went on the cancellation line to the sold out show. One got a return and the other asked people going in and was able to get a seat for $40. from someone who had an extra one. Always worth trying your luck.

re this show, and FLEABAG, as on has to keep alert to shows coming in - and if the UK reviews or other are spectacular, but tickets asap. Virtually everytyhing at the Armory has been good. Buy as soon as they go on sale . Same at St Annes Warehouse.

Simple.

For sixth row stalls on the aisle.

I remember being on the cusp of buying a ticket to Hamilton when they went on sale at The Public and when I saw they were $125 I thought, "Meh! Who knows if it'll be any good? I'll wait."

Of course by the time I'd finished the first paragraph of Brantley's review the entire run was sold out.

Waiting five hours on a lovely Easter Sunday morning I snagged a return for $125 (plus a gift of a Cadbury Easter Creme Egg from Lin-Manuel Miranda himself).

It does pay to keep up.

Although the downside is that you have to kiss a lot of frogs, metaphorically speaking, to wind up with the next Lin-Manuel Miranda. Recently, I scored cheap tickets to Superhero at 2nd Stage, Alice by Heart at MCC, and My Very Own British Invasion at Paper Mill before previews started. All three proved disappointing. But I'll keep trying for the next Fun Home and Hamilton!

I did get relatively affordable tickets for Lehman Trilogy too, although that wasn't a risk because it played in London and a friend saw it there.

Where are you seeing that price? Premium seats are $350 on the official website. In any event, that's the risk you run when you wait until the last minute to purchase tickets. On 9/12/18, my Zone C seats on the far side of row N were $45 each.

I just checked a couple of dates and $350 seats were available. Where were you looking?

The same seats were $145 when tickets went on sale.

Unless it has extends, it's a very limited run (just over a month).

Thanks Ann. I thought I was on the official site but was not. Those tickets are expensive but hardly the $800 that made me gasp.
I also was mistaken when I thought people might respond with helpful answers instead of the "that's what you get" and "Snooze you lose" comments.

My wife has been very annoying about how I didn't get us tickets at the Armory. By coincidence we're going to London in June and just thought I'd browse about shows to see. I got Comedy of Errors at the Globe (center box 5th row which allows you to lean against the back wall in your bench seats) -- at 5 am NYC time when they went on sale in London last month). What do you know, the Lehman Trilogy with the same National Theater/NYC cast is going to the Piccadilly Theater -- for our dates I got row Q center (it goes back another 5 rows) of the orchestra for $80 US dollars each no service charge, too.
