“Looped” was stunningly un-funny, the one thing it could not be. I saw it without Harper, who apparently compensated. Without her, it was maudlin and attenuated.

... I'm guessing it just had moments of hilarity? I've never seen the production, but the official press clips from Loop's YouTube channel made me genuinely L-O-L. Maybe it was, as you say, largely resting upon the talent of Valerie Harper whose line readings here are just PERFECT.
