| Was supposed to end March 17. So recouping under the original schedule only left two weeks of profit even sold out. But Riedel reported $6m cost and unconfirmed investor stated $7m, which is substantially more than the standard play around $3-4m. | |

| It always seemed to me that "strictly limited engagement" was code for no extensions, usually because the star had another commitment or the theater was booked. "Limited engagement" meant that extensions might happen. Was that just me making things up? | |

| "Strictly limited engagement" means "buy your tickets now before they sell out, the demand is so high that we can't guarantee you'll get in", which drives people to act on their fear of scarcity and buy tickets immediately, rather than waiting. | |

| That was just you trying to apply grammatical logic to the ever changing world of theatrical public relations jargon :-) | |

| I doubt they really expected to close on March 17 and make a profit. If it flopped, they would close on 3/17 without recouping; if they were a hit (which they are,) the extensions were designed in advance to allow them to turn a nice profit. It does create buzz when you announce that you're extending. Twice. | |

| Announcing an end date creates a necessity to act and get tickets. That pushes the audience into a certain number of weeks. Once that urgency is created, the extensions - as it was pointed out - generate positive buzz and keep the show in the public's eye. | |

| I mean, the tech aspects of NETWORK are incredible, plus whatever insurance they have to have folks eating on stage, plus the outdoor scene, etc. I see why the price is so high. | |

| Funny, I thought NETWORK already closed based on a Jeopardy "answer" earlier this week:" Bryan Cranston WAS in a Broadway production based on the movie NETWORK" as I was logging in on my MSN page had the headline that Alex Trebek has Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer further irony, I was diagnosed with that December 2017 (don't know what stage) but thank my lucky stars I was able to beat it with a procedure called the Whipple Treatment Let's hope that will work for him - Ruth Bader Ginsburg has survived it |

| At the time the show was taped, the extensions might not have been announced. I was fortunate enough to appear several years ago, and I did the taping about 3 months before it aired. | |
