|Equity Members Conclude Arts Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill to Protect Funding for the National Endowment for the Arts
Representatives from Actors’ Equity Association joined the 32nd Annual Arts Advocacy Day meeting in Washington, D.C. to protect the bipartisan National Endowment for the Arts. The meetings were part of a multi-day national arts action summit meeting that united arts advocates from across the country.
“The National Endowment for the Arts is an important source of startup funding for arts projects that create and retain jobs in every congressional district in the country,” said Brandon Lorenz, National Communications Director for Actors’ Equity Assocation. “Equity is committed to strengthening bipartisan support for the National Endowment for the Arts in Congress.”
Equity members attending included Roy A. Gross, Washington, D.C./Baltimore Liaison Chair; Karen D. Howell, Atlanta Liaison Chair; Sandra Karas, Secretary/Treasurer; Sarah LaBarr, Kansas City Liaison Chair; Andrew Maloney, (Ohio); Ira Mont, Third Vice President; Molly Norris, (Oregon); and Melissa Robinette, Eastern Regional Vice President.
Collectively, the group met with 34 House and Senate offices Tuesday to discuss the National Endowment for the Arts and tax fairness.
Equity is a National Sponsor of Arts Advocacy Day, which is Hosted by Americans for the Arts in partnership with over 85 national arts organizations. Arts Advocacy Day is the largest gathering of its kind, bringing together a broad cross section of America's cultural and civic organizations.
