| My biggest complaint is the little dancer doesn’t have any songs except a little quiet bedtime prayer. Totally missed opportunity with songs the younger suitor or even degas. I’m hoping that the focus on Marie means that she gets some good songs. I think the rest of it can be fixed/improved. Although I suspect that degas’s attention to young woman may have been inappropriate (I’ve never researched it so don’t know), the show doesn’t have the creepy issues that Gigi has with a society selling off young girls to rich suitors without marriage. | |

| Keep in mind that Marie is being played by a world class ballerina, Tiler Peck who is, to be fair, not really a terrific singer. She is in the show to dance beautifully. | |

| Megan Fairchild sang in On the Town and she is a ballet dancer. Ivy Smith in On The Town has almost no solo singing to do - and what is there (the first refrain of "Do Re Do") isn't hard singing, nor need it be all that great - given that in the context of the song, she's learning how to sing, and she has a lousy voice teacher lol. The only other actual singing she has is in the finale in unison with the other 2 female leads (merely the lyric "Pitkin understood...he really understood") and assumedly she sings with the full company in the "New York New York" ending reprise (and with the women's chorus in the remainder of "Do Re Do"). Hardly a singing role. Vera in On Your Toes gets less than that - no singing at all. |
