| Beyond the problem with the property itself, the dreadful stage sets throughout make the entire film seem fake. Perhaps a film that depends on a huge suspension of belief should bring some reality to the physical production. Except for the beautiful wedding dance I've always found the film unbearable. But then, I find the story itself to be irredeemably stupid. | |

| Brigadoon--of all properties!--does not want "realism"; it wants magic! It didn't get enough of the latter in the 1954 film, but making the picture more photojournalistic would probably not have helped. | |
