| Obviously it isn't produced by Disney Theatricals, but the book is published by Disney Press and I'm not sure how that impacts the underlying rights. | |

| Interestingly, there's a VERY sharp divide here--the younger critics (Holdren, Windman, Zacharay Stewart at TheaterMania) were all positive, while the strongly negative reviews came from the older critics (Brantley, Marks, Jones). (I don't know where A.D. Amorosi at Variety (who liked it) and Jessica Derschowitz at EW (who didn't) fall.) I haven't seen it since Red Bank and can't weigh in myself, but I can spot a pattern. Seth, seeing it next month |

| While I do not mean to be dramatic, do you think that the review will be the kiss of death for the show? I imagine that it will now have some difficulty attracting audiences outside of its target demographic (i.e., middle-aged white women), who are the same ones who sustain most Broadway shows. | |

| The target audience for the show is hardly middle-aged white women, who may indeed enjoy it. BMC completely sold out its OB run because of young audiences, teens and twenty-somethings, that loved the book it's based on. Will they be enough? |

| After Brantley, I skimmed the others. With a few exceptions (I believe NY Magazine one), they are indeed downbeat. I have not followed earlier iterations of this show beyond title recognition and a few posts, the subject matter off my radar. Was there widespread belief that this show might pull something closer to, say, a "Sponge Bob"? "SB" invited snickers in advance and then no small amount of wonder and appreciation, including from Brantley. Curious about the space between expectation and Monday morning let-down. I saw a dispirited Roland on Twitter this morning. | |

| As far as I'm concerned, that's was a pretty damn(ingly) accurate review! The production was insufferable to sit through- I couldn't wait for it to be over. Glad to know that I'm not the only one who didn't drink the kool-aid. | |

| I'm wondering where the kids these shows are targeted for can afford tickets to them. Yes, parents spring for some, but with "Mean Girls" and "Dear Evan Hansen", etc. those treats add up. | |

| The third week was only $560k and last week was under $500k but did have a lot of comps for opening night. But that $560k is not a good sign with mediocre reviews. | |

| There were two early 20 something in premium seats $450 each (that probably paid that because I waited to the fourth seat in the row dropped to $199 about 90 minutes before curtain. They were probably gift from parents. They left at intermission! | |
