Loved it. A delight.
I would assert that it was in the ballpark of HAIRSPRAY but a less intricately plotted storyline. Whereas HAIRSPRAY was about skin color and class, it had little to do with gay issues (even though it had the hide-in-plain-sight Divine/Harvey character). This show is an unabashedly, family-friendly valentine to gay issues and especially coming out. With no AIDS.
While some might criticize it for all these things, I applaud its simple grace and the young lady who plays it straight as the teen lesbian with the beautiful singing voice. She balances out the high comedy shenanigans of the other delightful leads.
