The sentence could be misinterpreted ("From the first time Hugh Jackman set foot on stage in the highly acclaimed National Theatre production of Oklahoma! in 1998, to his Tony-winning, sensation-causing turn as Peter Allen in the 2003 musical The Boy From Oz, his reputation as the world’s greatest living stage star was secured.") -- he must have been referring to Hugh's introduction to the international stage ( presumably via London or via Broadway) and was not really referring to when Hugh first performed in live musical theatre. I was lucky to have seen Oklahoma! in London in 1999. I was actually on a business trip in London and decided to see the show because I had never seen a live staging of a musical from one of my favorite composers, Rodgers&Hammerstein ( save for that Lincoln Center revival of South Pacific with Florence Henerson decades back). I did not know who the lead was for OKLAHOMA! but he struck me with his commanding stage presence ( couldn't even see his face clearly as I was seated front row of the Dress Circle) and I though he had a powerful legit stage voice! Eventually I thought he would return to the West End but it never happened again. It seems he actually went even more westward - to Hollywood (*grin*). Next time I heard after that, he was going to be in THE BOY FROM OZ!
